The Bucharest City Hall has announced a series of special measures following the orange weather warning for storms issued by the National Meteorological Administration (ANM) for the Capital. Authorities have begun inspecting construction sites, traffic lights, and advertising billboards, while intervention teams are on standby to act quickly in cases of fallen trees or other incidents caused by severe weather.

The Municipal Administration for the Consolidation of Buildings at Seismic Risk, the Bucharest Roads Administration, Apa Nova, and Termoenergetica have also confirmed that they are securing their worksites and have teams prepared to promptly address any malfunctions caused by the adverse weather conditions.

For residents affected by storms and strong winds, the City Hall has made available a toll-free number – 0800.800.868 – where problems can be reported so that authorities can respond immediately.

City Hall representatives emphasized that these measures were implemented under the decision of the Bucharest Municipal Committee for Emergency Situations, following the issuance of the orange storm alert for the Capital by ANM.

The Ministry of Environment has also issued recommendations for the public: avoiding unnecessary travel in areas affected by extreme weather, following the instructions of the authorities, securing homes and properties, and paying special attention to the health of children, the elderly, and people with chronic conditions. Caution in traffic is advised, as well as calling emergency services immediately in the event of serious incidents such as fires caused by lightning strikes.

According to ANM, in Bucharest and eight other counties in the southeast of the country, wind speeds may reach 70–85 km/h. For Bucharest and Ilfov, meteorologists have issued a yellow wind warning valid Thursday between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., followed, from that evening until Friday morning, by an orange warning for strong gusts.
