Bucharest, June 23, 2025 – Sector 6 of Bucharest continues to attract European funding for infrastructure development, with a newly signed contract worth over 51 million lei aimed at the complete reconstruction of the Hilary Clinton Kindergarten, originally built in 1968.
According to Mayor Ciprian Ciucu, public procurement procedures for design and construction are set to begin this September. The project timeline spans approximately two years, with six months allocated for design and eighteen for construction. Authorities expect the new facility to open its doors by the 2028 school year.
The modernized kindergarten will feature 12 classrooms with a total capacity of 240 children, as well as outdoor recreational areas, landscaped courtyards with urban furniture, green terraces, educational spaces, and an open-air amphitheater.
For the 2025–2026 school year, operations will continue as normal. Children will be relocated starting in autumn 2026, with several relocation options currently under review. The final decision will be communicated in advance and discussed with parents.
Mayor Ciucu also extended his gratitude to the teams involved in securing the funding, notably the External Funds Directorate and the Investments Directorate, emphasizing their vital role in improving Sector 6’s public infrastructure.
