Sector 6 of Bucharest is one of the most dynamic and developed sectors of the Romanian capital. Located in the western part of the city, this sector combines modern residential areas with extensive green spaces, such as Drumul Taberei Park and Morii Lake, offering its inhabitants an oasis of relaxation and recreation. Sector 6 is known for its well-developed infrastructure, with easy access to public transport, including metro, tram and bus stations, providing fast connections to the city center and other important areas.
It is also home to numerous educational institutions, shopping centers, restaurants and sports facilities, making it an attractive place for families, young professionals and students. Recent real estate developments and urban regeneration projects are contributing to the continued increase in the quality of life in Sector 6, making it a vibrant and cosmopolitan area.
Sector 6. Neighborhoods and housing
Sector 6 includes some of the most sought-after neighborhoods in Bucharest.
- Drumul Taberei: It is one of the largest neighborhoods in the sector, known for its residential development and modern infrastructure. Drumul Taberei offers a variety of housing options, from apartments in new blocks to traditional houses. Despite Drumul Taberei's high population density since the communist regime, it has been excluded from underground transport infrastructure plans in favor of the Militari district, with efforts to connect it to the rest of the city only in the last decade.
- Crângași - The Crângași neighborhood is known for its peaceful atmosphere, accessible amenities and diversity of living options. With a history spanning several decades, Crângași has become a popular neighborhood for families and young professionals alike, offering a balance between urban convenience and green spaces. Crângași is well connected to the rest of the city by an efficient public transportation network. One of the neighborhood's main attractions is Crângași Park, a popular place for walking, jogging and relaxing.
- Giulești - Giulești is an older neighborhood, but with a distinct atmosphere and close-knit community. It enjoys close proximity to parks (Marin Preda Park, the old Giulești Park) and shopping areas, making it ideal for those looking for a mix of old and new.
- Ghencea - The Ghencea neighborhood is an attractive option for those looking for a pleasant residential location. Unfortunately, the neighborhood infrastructure here is not very good, but the Ghencea neighborhoods, along with Drumul Taberei, benefited from a metro line - M5 - which was completed in 2020, the only temporary solution to quickly get to another part of the city is tram 41. Transportation by bus, trolleybus or personal car is time-consuming due to the congestion in the area.
- Militari - The Militari neighborhood is one of the best known and developed neighborhoods in Sector 6 of Bucharest. It is characterized by a combination of residential, commercial and industrial areas, offering residents a wide range of facilities and services. Militari is appreciated for its well-developed infrastructure, with easy access to the main transportation arteries and the metro network, through the stations Preciziei, Păcii, Gorjului and Lujerului.
- Regie - Regie is a neighborhood in Sector 6 of Bucharest, especially known for its student atmosphere and dynamic nightlife. Situated near the Dâmbovița River, this neighborhood is home to one of the largest student dormitory complexes in Bucharest, being home to many students of the Polytechnic University of Bucharest and other higher education institutions in the capital.
