Starting the weekend of July 5–6, the pedestrian route “Open Streets – Bucharest” will be extended with two new streets: Piața Amzei Street (between Calea Victoriei and Piața Amzei) and Christian Tell Street (between Biserica Amzei Street and Piața Amzei Street) will become pedestrian-only for the entire duration of the project, until October.

The expansion of the pedestrian route in these areas is a natural continuation of the initiative to give back key arteries of Bucharest to pedestrians and to transform public space into a place for the community.

The artistic program on Calea Victoriei, organized by ARCUB, highlights a series of cultural events meant to turn the city into an open stage. The Bucharest Municipality Museum will offer permanent exhibitions and outdoor photo retrospectives; the Kretzulescu Park area will become a public painting workshop; and in front of the National Museum of Art of Romania, the public can enjoy interactive magic shows performed by Magitot. Evening entertainment will feature street performances by the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus and musical moments by the “Constantin Tănase” Revue Theatre.

Calea Victoriei – a space for the community

“Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade” continues to transform the city every weekend, offering residents a different perspective on Bucharest. Public space thus becomes a place for people – open to gatherings, artistic experimentation, and the joy of experiencing the city in a different way: on foot, at the rhythm of the community.

The full weekend program is available on www.arcub.ro and ARCUB’s communication channels.

Traffic restrictions

As part of the “Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade” program this weekend, Calea Victoriei will become pedestrian-only on July 5 and 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., on the road segment between Dacia Boulevard and the intersection with Splaiul Independenței, without affecting the intersections. Pedestrian crossing on Calea Victoriei will be allowed at Știrbei Vodă Street, C.A. Rosetti Street, Dem I. Dobrescu Street, Ion Câmpineanu Street, and Regina Elisabeta Boulevard. Bucharest public transport will be rerouted without affecting passengers. Car traffic on Calea Victoriei will resume at night between Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. For the safety of event participants, bicycle lanes on the affected streets will also be closed.

Piața Amzei Street (the segment between Calea Victoriei and Piața Amzei) and Christian Tell Street (the segment between Biserica Amzei Street and Piața Amzei Street) will also become pedestrian-only on July 5 and 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
