Bonnie Tyler, the unmistakable voice behind “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero”, was due to perform in Bucharest on 23 October 2026, at Sala Palatului. The concert had been announced as an anniversary event, dedicated to the Welsh artist’s 50-year career.
The singer died at the age of 75, in a hospital in Portugal, where she had been receiving treatment after emergency intestinal surgery. Associated Press notes that Bonnie Tyler had previously been placed in an induced coma and was under medical care following complications after the operation.
The Bucharest concert was scheduled for 23 October
The Bucharest event was listed on ticketing platforms as “Bonnie Tyler – Anniversary Concert”, scheduled for Friday, 23 October 2026, at 8:00 p.m., at Sala Palatului. On iabilet.ro, access was announced from 7:00 p.m., and the event page listed Sala Palatului as the venue.
The Sala Palatului website also announced the concert as “Bonnie Tyler – Jubilee Concert | 50 Years of Career”, scheduled for 23 October 2026, at 8:00 p.m. The event was presented as a KIMARO Entertainment production, supported by Magic FM, with tickets listed through the get-in.ro platform.

Some websites still had the announcements for Bonnie Tyler’s concert active at the time this article was published.
The Bucharest concert was meant to be part of the series of appearances through which the artist was marking half a century of career. In the event presentation, Bonnie Tyler was described as one of the most recognisable voices in international music, with hits such as “It’s a Heartache”, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” and “Holding Out for a Hero”.
Until an official announcement is made by the organisers or ticketing platforms, those who bought tickets should follow the information published by the organiser, Sala Palatului and the platforms through which the tickets were purchased. In such situations, details regarding cancellation, refunds or any procedures for ticket holders are usually communicated by the event organisers.
Bonnie Tyler had been hospitalised after emergency surgery
The artist’s medical problems became public in the spring, when Bonnie Tyler was hospitalised in Portugal after emergency intestinal surgery. On 15 June 2026, her team announced on her official website that she was no longer in a coma, but remained “very unwell” and in intensive care.
Bonnie Tyler had come out of a coma after more than a month, but her condition was still serious. Romanian publications that reported she had come out of the coma also mentioned at the time the concert in Romania, scheduled for 23 October at Sala Palatului in Bucharest.
Bonnie Tyler, whose real name was Gaynor Hopkins, was born in Wales and first became known with “Lost in France” and “It’s a Heartache”. Her global success came in 1983 with “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, the song written by Jim Steinman, which reached number one in both the United Kingdom and the United States.
The artist had performed in Romania before
Bonnie Tyler would not have been meeting the Romanian public for the first time. In 2012, the artist performed at Sala Palatului in Bucharest, in an event announced at the time by the organisers and covered by the Romanian press.
Her most recent announced appearance in Romania was in September 2025, at BT Arena in Cluj-Napoca, as part of the DISCOTECA ’80 CLUJ 2025 event. The line-up included Bonnie Tyler, Boney M feat. Liz Mitchell, Sabrina, Samantha Fox, Joy and Lian Ross.
