Almost 3,000 troops will march under the Arch of Triumph on Monday, on National Day, with President Nicuşor Dan, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, members of the Government, MPs, numerous other officials and representatives of the diplomatic corps attending the ceremonies. Ilie Bolojan will also attend the ceremonies held in Alba Iulia on Monday for the National Day.

UPDATE – President Nicuşor Dan has arrived and was greeted by the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Gheorghiţă Vlad.

In the official stand are members of the Government – Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Deputy Prime Ministers Oana Gheorghiu and Marian Neacşu, ministers Alexandru Rogobete, Oana Ţoiu, Ciprian Şerban, Radu Miruţă, Cătălin Predoiu, Radu Marinescu, Alexandru Nazare – former President Traian Băsescu, the presidents of the two Chambers, Mircea Abrudean and Sorin Grindeanu, Constitutional Court judges, and representatives of the diplomatic corps.

After the national anthem was played, President Nicuşor Dan laid a wreath.

A moment of silence followed.

INITIAL REPORT – The Ministry of National Defence is organising a series of events in Bucharest dedicated to Romania’s National Day.

Starting at 9:00, at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Carol I Park in the capital, a military and religious wreath-laying ceremony will take place, in memory of the Romanian heroes who sacrificed their lives on the battlefield in the pursuit of national ideals.

The National Military Parade is scheduled to begin at 11:00 in the Arch of Triumph Square.

A total of 2,900 troops and specialists from the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Romanian Intelligence Service, the Special Telecommunications Service and the National Administration of Penitentiaries will march, with 220 pieces of equipment (60 displayed statically) and 45 aircraft.

Alongside the Romanian troops, 240 foreign troops will march, representing detachments from France, North Macedonia, the Republic of Moldova, Poland, Portugal, Spain, the United States, as well as troops from the allied countries contributing to NATO structures stationed in Romania.

In the Arch of Triumph area, a military equipment exhibition will be set up and can be visited after the official ceremony, until 14:30.

Events in Bucharest end with the torchlight retreat of the troops of the 30th Guard Brigade “Mihai Viteazul”, starting at 19:00, along the route: National Military Circle Palace – Calea Victoriei, Regina Elisabeta Blvd., Mihail Kogălniceanu Blvd., Splaiul Independenţei, Eroilor Sanitari Blvd., Prof. Dr. Gheorghe Marinescu St., Cotroceni Road, Iuliu Maniu Blvd., Gen. Paul Teodorescu Blvd., Timişoara Blvd., the headquarters of the 30th Guard Brigade “Mihai Viteazul”.

In Alba Iulia, at 13:15, a military wreath-laying ceremony will take place at the “Great Union” Monument.

At 14:00, the military ceremony with marching troops and combat equipment will take place on 1 December 1918 Boulevard, with over 1,000 troops and specialists from the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Museum of the Union in Alba Iulia, the Romanian Red Cross – Alba Iulia branch, the Association of Veteran Soldiers and Disabled Veterans – Alba, the historical reenactment group “Ferdinand I”, and the “Pandurii Vladimirescu” group from Mehedinţi.

Military personnel and combat equipment from Poland, belonging to allied structures under the Multinational Brigade South-East, will also be part of the parade formation.

The national flag will be raised on Monday in all military institutions in the country, and the Great Pavois will be hoisted on maritime and river ships.

Troops deployed in theatres of operations and on external missions will take part in military ceremonies and specific activities organised for the National Day.
