UPDATE — Firefighters from ISU Bucharest–Ilfov carried out 36 interventions due to strong winds. 23 cars were damaged

Firefighters from ISU București–Ilfov handled 36 interventions from Thursday evening to Friday morning to deal with the effects of strong winds. Most of them — 27 — were to remove fallen trees, which damaged 23 cars. Crews are continuing operations to clear downed trees or utility poles, as well as those at risk of collapsing.

UPDATE — ISU București–Ilfov announced that, on Friday morning, teams were intervening in several areas:

  • Str. Albiniști – tree fallen onto a car
  • Str. Radu Constantin – tree fallen onto a car
  • Șos. Ștefan cel Mare – tree fallen
  • Calea Moșilor – tree fallen onto a car
  • Siliștea Ciolpani – utility pole at risk of falling
  • Str. Iacob Negruzzi – tree fallen onto a car
  • Splaiul Independenței – construction element at risk of falling
  • Aleea Someșul Cald – tree fallen
  • B-dul Camil Resu – tree fallen onto a car
  • Popești-Leordeni – tree fallen onto a car
  • Aleea Moldovița – tree fallen onto a car
  • Aleea Valea Bujorului – tree fallen
  • B-dul Timișoara – tree fallen
  • Drumul Taberei – tree fallen onto a car
  • Șos. Virtuții × Șos. Uverturii – bricks fallen from a balcony onto a car
  • Piața Pache Protopopescu – sheet metal on a roof at risk of falling

INITIAL REPORT — According to the Bucharest–Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU), during the period covered by the orange wind warning, firefighters managed 36 interventions in Bucharest and Ilfov up to Friday morning.

Of these, 28 were in Bucharest: 20 for fallen trees (which damaged 23 cars), 3 for detached construction elements, and 5 for affected electrical cables.

The remaining 8 interventions were in Ilfov County: 7 for fallen trees and 1 for a detached construction element.

On Friday morning, crews were also at work in Măgurele (Ilfov County):

  • Strada Atomiștilor – detached construction elements
  • Strada Novaci – tree at risk of falling
  • Aleea Călinești – tree fallen onto the roadway
  • Strada Reșița – tree fallen onto a car

And in Corbeanca (Ilfov County):

  • Strada Primăverii – tree fallen onto the roadway.
