A tram derailed on Thursday in Bucharest, on Theodor Pallady Boulevard, shortly after departing from the end-of-line station. As a result, tram services on lines 19, 27, and 49 are currently suspended.
“STB (Bucharest’s Public Transport Company) announces that today, June 5, 2025, at 11:05 AM, a tram operating on line 19 derailed on Theodor Pallady Boulevard, just after departing from the terminus. Due to this incident, service on lines 19, 27, and 49 is blocked, and several trams have been rerouted via Camil Ressu Boulevard and Mihai Bravu Road,” the company stated in a press release.
To ease traffic congestion and maintain public transport continuity, STB has introduced two shuttle bus lines:
- Line 619, running between the Theodor Pallady terminus and Faur
- Line 627, running between the Theodor Pallady terminus and the intersection of Camil Ressu Boulevard and Mihai Bravu Road
Emergency crews are on site, working to resolve the situation and restore normal operations as quickly as possible, the company added.
In addition, a technical investigation committee has been formed to determine the cause of the derailment and propose preventive measures to avoid similar incidents in the future.
