The 29th edition of the CineMAiubit International Student Film Festival will take place between December 9 and 13 at UNATC “I. L. Caragiale” in Bucharest.
The festival opens on December 9, at 18:00, in the UNATC Cinema Hall, with the opening ceremony followed by the first block of films in the Fiction competition.
The festival program includes short-film competitions in fiction, documentary, and animation, followed by Q&A sessions where audiences can talk with the filmmakers. It also features two exhibitions (photography and poster), a special screening of the film “The Death of Dracula,” and three screenings from the “Future perspectives” competition.
The festival will screen films from Belgium, Germany, Poland, Spain, Israel, the United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Canada, Brazil, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Greece, Georgia, Albania, and Romania.
The Fiction jury will be chaired by British filmmaker and curator Suzy Gillett and also includes producer Anamaria Antoci, director Simona Borcea, actress Iulia Verdeș, Italian novelist and screenwriter Maurizio Amendola, film critic Călin Boto, cinematographer Vivi Drăgan Vasile, and sound designer Ioan Filip.
The Documentary jury consists of director and producer Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan, anthropologist Bogdan Iancu, and director and selector Sara Budrală.
The Animation jury is formed by directors Alina Gheorghe and Lavinia Petrache, joined by Animest’s executive director Filip Mănișor.
The Critics’ Jury is composed of Dana Duma, Mihai Fulger, and Dinu Ioan Nicula.
The “Dumitru Carabăţ” Screenplay Award jury includes Andreea Borțun, Sarra Tsorakidis, and George Cornilă.
The “Sorin Botoșeneanu” Photography Award will be granted by Andreea Mihalcea, Cristina Iliescu, and Bogdan Maraloiu.
The High School Jury brings together students from three schools: “Gheorghe Lazăr” National College and “Nicolae Tonitza” High School of Fine Arts in Bucharest, and Fundulea Technological High School.
The awards ceremony will take place on December 13 at 19:00 in the UNATC Cinema Hall and will be followed by screenings of the winning films.
The festival is organized by UNATC “I. L. Caragiale” Bucharest and the Cinemaiubit Foundation, with support from the National Film Center (CNC), the Romanian Filmmakers’ Union (UCIN), and DACIN SARA. The festival’s main partner is Cinepub.ro, the platform that will host the films throughout the event.
