The event “Open City Hall”, which gives Bucharest residents and tourists the chance to discover the heritage and history of one of the city’s most beautiful interwar palaces, takes place during Bucharest Days on Saturday, starting at 10:00 a.m. and running until 3:00 a.m. the next day.

On Saturday, the public is invited to explore the interior of one of the Capital’s most representative interwar palaces through guided tours that reveal the building’s history and its transformations over time.

The program also features the exhibition “Bucharest: people, places, times”, presented by the Bucharest Municipality Museum. It brings together 60 paintings and sculptures from the Pinacotheque’s collection, offering an artistic perspective on the city and its inhabitants. In addition, the Museum will screen a selection of rare historical documentaries in the City Hall’s inner courtyard, reconstructing key moments and symbols essential to the identity of both Bucharest and Romania.

Complementing this is the participatory installation “Bucharest NOW”, which invites locals and visitors to leave written or drawn messages about what they love and wish for the city, turning the experience into a collective dialogue about Bucharest.

Elie Radu Street becomes a stage and meeting place

Next to the City Hall Palace, Elie Radu Street will come alive with a varied program of activities for all ages. The morning begins with a puppet-making workshop, followed by a magic show by Magitot and the interactive musical performance “The Merry Carousel”, created by saxophonist Cătălin Milea and jazz/bossa nova singer Gabriela Costa.

After lunch, audiences can enjoy the traditional play “The Cunning Cioful”, followed by spectacular unicycle juggling demonstrations (Vlad Bănescu) and the interactive rock show “The Rolling Strings” by the “Pur Anima” Theatre Company.

In the evening, the street fills with music: Sunday Morning (6:00–7:30 p.m.) with a lively folk-rock repertoire, and Irina Sârbu (9:00–10:00 p.m.), enchanting the public with her versatile voice and a blend of jazz, pop, and traditional influences. From 5:00 p.m. until dawn, DJ Jiji Lazăr’s live sets will turn the street into a space for music and dance.

Community table and relaxation area

Throughout the event, visitors are invited to the community table and food & drinks area set up on Elie Radu Street – a space for socializing where gastronomy intertwines with the festive atmosphere.

“Open City Hall” is more than just an event: it is an opportunity to discover heritage, take part in cultural activities, and celebrate together the 566th anniversary of Bucharest’s first historical attestation.

Admission to all events is free.
