Bucharest residents with a passion for history and cultural heritage are invited on Sunday, February 1, to a special guided tour at the National Museum of Romanian History. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore some of Romania’s most valuable treasures, including the jewels of the Royal Family and the famous “Golden Hen with Chicks” treasure.
The event takes place inside the former Palace of the Post Office, one of Bucharest’s landmark buildings, and promises an engaging journey through the history of both the capital and the country.
Two guided tours in one day
The guided tour will be organized in two separate sessions to accommodate more participants. The first tour starts at 10:00 a.m., followed by a second session at 2:00 p.m.
Participants will be accompanied by Alex Ghid, a storyteller deeply passionate about Bucharest’s past, who will bring the city’s history to life through stories, architectural details, and lesser-known historical contexts.

What participants will discover during the tour
The itinerary includes some of the museum’s most important exhibits. Visitors will be able to admire the full-scale replica of Trajan’s Column, created at a 1:1 scale, along with the impressive details of its sculpted scenes depicting ancient history.
A key highlight of the tour is the “Golden Hen with Chicks” treasure, alongside more than 3,000 remarkable objects made of precious metals and gemstones, many of them unique. The tour also features the jewels of Romania’s Royal Family, offering a visible and tangible insight into the country’s modern history.
As an added attraction, participants can visit the exhibition dedicated to the conservation and restoration of paintings, which showcases how works by artists such as Aman, Grigorescu, Luchian, Tattarescu, and Tonitza have been restored by experts and brought back to public view.
Raffle and social gathering after the tour
All participants will automatically be entered into a raffle, with the chance to win a free invitation for a friend to future guided tours organized in Bucharest.
After the tour, those interested may continue socializing at a nearby venue in an informal setting. Food and drinks are paid individually.
