Films on the Island of Arts in Titan Park begin Tuesday. First week’s program of Open-Air Cinema

Open-Air Cinema kicks off on Tuesday with a diverse selection of films, ranging from international premieres and acclaimed Romanian productions to family-friendly animations. Screenings will take place Tuesday through Sunday, starting at 9:00 p.m., on the Island of Arts in Titan Park. Admission is free.

Tuesday, August 19
Parthenope (2025), directed by Paolo Sorrentino, starring Gary Oldman, Francesca Romana Bergamo, Stefania Sandrelli, Luisa Ranieri.
Synopsis: From Oscar-winning director Paolo Sorrentino (La Grande Bellezza) comes Parthenope, a film about memories, loss, and rediscovering oneself, all unfolding against the vibrant and unpredictable backdrop of Naples. Parthenope follows a woman’s journey through the decades, navigating love, loss, and the search for identity. “Parthenope is the mirror of Naples: free, passionate, and sometimes painful,” says Sorrentino. Inspired by his personal relationship with his hometown, the film continues the autobiographical themes explored in The Hand of God / È stata la mano di Dio.

Three Kilometers to the End of the World (2024), directed by Emanuel Pârvu, starring Laura Vasiliu, Adrian Titieni, Bogdan Dumitrache, Ingrid Berescu, Ciprian Chiujdea.
Synopsis: Adi, a 17-year-old from a village in the Danube Delta, studies in Tulcea thanks to his parents’ efforts. Returning home for summer vacation, he enjoys time with his family and best friend Ilinca. When the family is violently confronted with a truth they cannot understand or accept, the unconditional love Adi expects from his parents vanishes, leaving him with only one option.

Thursday, August 21
Flow – A Fearless Cat (2025), directed by Gints Zilbalodis.
Synopsis: Flow is a solitary cat living peacefully in the forest. When her world nears its end and her home is destroyed by a flood, she is forced to find refuge on a boat alongside other animals. Despite their differences, they form an unbreakable team as the lone boat sails through mystical flooded landscapes, facing challenges and dangers while adapting to a new world.

Friday, August 22
Maria (2024), directed by Pablo Larraín, starring Angelina Jolie.
Synopsis: Angelina Jolie takes on the role of Maria Callas, one of the most iconic opera singers of the 20th century. The film follows the soprano during the final chapter of her life, as she retreats to Paris after a tumultuous and glamorous career.

Saturday, August 23
Emilia Pérez (2024), directed by Jacques Audiard, starring Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, Karla Sofía Gascón, Adriana Paz.
Synopsis: Rita (Zoe Saldaña), an overqualified and underappreciated lawyer at a firm where profits matter more than justice, has her life turned upside down when a Mexican cartel leader (Karla Sofía Gascón) hires her to help retire from crime and fulfill a bold and unexpected dream. Emilia Pérez is a story about four fascinating, strong women, each in pursuit of happiness. The film, a musical, won two major awards at Cannes: the Jury Prize and the Best Actress Award, shared by Karla Sofía Gascón, Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, and Adriana Paz. It represents France in the Oscar race for Best International Feature.

Dreams – Diary of a First Love (2025), directed by Dag Johan Haugerud, starring Ane Dahl Torp, Anne Marit Jacobsen, Selome Emnetu, Silje Breivik.
Synopsis: Johanne, a 17-year-old girl from Oslo, experiences a turbulent first love filled with questions and uncertainties. She finds refuge in writing, keeping a diary where reality intertwines with desire and characters transform into ideals. Her talent is quickly noticed, and her family encourages her to turn the diary into a novel. When her intimate story becomes public, Johanne must separate memory from fiction and face reality.
