The consolidation, rehabilitation, and modernization works on the “Mihai Eminescu” building of the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (ASE) have been completed, with the project value exceeding 160 million lei.

The Minister of Development, Cseke Attila, attended on Monday the inauguration ceremony of the “Mihai Eminescu” building of ASE Bucharest, which was consolidated, rehabilitated, and modernized by the Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration.

According to a press release issued by the ministry, the project targeted the rehabilitation of the existing building, completed in 1968, through structural consolidation as well as the refurbishment of finishes and installations, in order to bring the facility up to modern European standards of operation and safety. In addition, the structure was seismically secured so that it complies with current design regulations.

In this regard, works included strengthening the building’s structural resistance, reducing energy consumption during operation (replacing joinery, renovating the roof terrace, insulating facades and floors, replacing the electrical installation, modernizing ventilation and sanitation systems, etc.), restoring interior and exterior finishes, and replacing the old elevators with three modern ones.

“Investments in education and health are among the most important, because through them we invest in the future! That is why, even in the current financial climate, we prioritized this project, which was approved in 2021 and is now complete,” said the Minister of Development, Cseke Attila.

The project, funded by the Ministry of Development, amounts to 160,644,854.01 lei. In the coming period, classrooms and other educational spaces will be modernized and equipped with IT systems and new furniture.
