Romania’s Minister of Transport, Ciprian Șerban, announced that the winner has been selected for the Bucharest–Giurgiu high-speed road project. The contract was awarded to the consortium formed by Activ Proiectare Infrastructură and an engineering company from Turkey, with a value of 33 million lei (excluding VAT).
“We are taking an important step for the Bucharest–Giurgiu high-speed road! Today, the National Road Investment Company designated the winner of the contract for the Feasibility Study of this long-awaited modern road. The contract was awarded to the consortium of Activ Proiectare Infrastructură and a Turkish engineering firm, for 33 million lei (excluding VAT),” stated Minister Șerban.
He added that the study will determine the exact route, whether the road will be a motorway or an expressway, how it will connect to other projects (including the future Giurgiu–Ruse Bridge), and will also assess financing options, including a possible public–private partnership.
“The project is funded by both European and state budget resources, and the study will be completed within 16 months. This road is essential for ensuring a fast connection between Bucharest and the Bulgarian border, contributing to the development of Romania’s infrastructure,” Șerban emphasized.
