Calea Victoriei becomes pedestrian again this weekend, with a diverse program. The “Open Streets – Bucharest” initiative extends on September 13–14 to Calea Griviței (Sector 1), where activities for the whole family will take place.
Residents are invited to enjoy a weekend full of performances for all ages: from the explosive percussion show The Fury Drummers (Barbarosa & Fringe Festival), to the folklore performance presented by the “Valea Prahovei” Folklore Association near the National History Museum. Children can enjoy the interactive shows of Țăndărică Theatre, scheduled at Calea Victoriei no. 45.
Kretzulescu Park will transform into an open-air art studio, with live painting demonstrations by the Bucharest Association of Plastic Artists. Fans of vintage vehicles can visit the exhibition “2 Classic Wheels”, featuring 30 mopeds and motorcycles produced between 1930 and 1980, reviving the atmosphere of past decades in the heart of the city. In Revolution Square, the program is enriched by artistic installations from the international initiative Every Can Counts (creative recycling), alongside FactoryLab – a Mezanin Market & Raiffeisen Bank project billed as the world’s smallest showroom, where 10 local entrepreneurs will showcase their creations.
The courtyard of the Filipescu-Cesianu House will host, on Saturday and Sunday, Spanish film screenings and an outdoor exhibition as part of Weekend Sessions, in partnership with the Embassy of Spain and the Cultural Enterprise Association. Visitors can also discover the permanent exhibitions of the Bucharest Municipality Museum (The Museum of Ages and Close to the Saints), as well as the themed painting exhibition Bucharest by Night.
That same weekend, Calea Griviței will become a community space, where art, sports, and entertainment meet in a diverse program supported by PROEDUS – Bucharest’s Educational and Sports Projects Center. Throughout the day, the street will come alive with sports activities – from mini basketball tournaments and ping-pong tables to interactive games and large-scale installations – as well as creative workshops and face painting sessions for children.
The street will also host theatre performances and animation moments staged by major Bucharest institutions such as the Constantin Tănase Revue Theatre, Teatrul Mic, Metropolis Theatre, Odeon Theatre, and Ion Creangă Theatre. The festive atmosphere will be enhanced by spectacular shows from the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus and concerts by artists from the Bucharest School of Arts.
“Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade” is organized by the City Hall through ARCUB – the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bucharest – and PROEDUS, and aims to create a city that is friendlier, more creative, and closer to its community.
The full program for the weekend of September 13–14 is available on arcub.ro and proedus.ro.
