Bucharest students will learn how to provide first aid and will be trained in basic resuscitation techniques, under a partnership between the Bucharest School Inspectorate (ISMB) and the “Carol Davila” University of Medicine and Pharmacy (UMF). The agreement, signed for one year with the possibility of extension, aims to promote health education among pupils and teachers. Training sessions will be delivered by specialist doctors, residents, and medical students from UMF.

According to the announcement made on Monday by UMF “Carol Davila”, the partnership’s main objective is to implement a program on Basic Life Support (BLS) for both students and teachers in Bucharest schools. The activities are designed to build and strengthen first aid skills, raise awareness about safety rules and accident prevention, and foster solidarity and mutual support within the school community.

As part of the agreement, both theoretical and practical training sessions will be organized in schools, led by UMF specialists, residents, and students. The project will also be promoted through media and educational channels to increase awareness of the importance of health education and to help reduce the incidence and severity of accidents.

“Education and health are the fundamental pillars of a healthy and prosperous society. This partnership with the Bucharest School Inspectorate reflects the firm commitment of our university to the future of the community. Through this collaboration, we aim to bring pupils and their teachers not only essential knowledge about prevention and healthy lifestyles, but also values such as responsibility, solidarity, and respect for one’s own life and for others. I am convinced that, together with doctors, students, and our future colleagues — pupils and their teachers — we can turn this initiative into a true model of civic responsibility and social progress,” said Prof. Viorel Jinga, Rector of UMF “Carol Davila”.

The General Inspector of ISMB, Prof. Ionel Florian Lixandru, underlined the importance of this initiative: “In a context where health education is becoming increasingly relevant and necessary, this partnership is essential for training pupils and teachers in preventive medicine. Through this agreement, our goal is not only to deliver theoretical knowledge, but also to develop practical skills that can save lives. Training in basic resuscitation techniques is a concrete step towards building a responsible and well-prepared school community.”

The partnership will run for one year, with the possibility of extension. It represents an example of collaboration between higher education and the pre-university system in support of life skills development, helping to create a culture of health and solidarity among the younger generation.
