The 2025 Bucharest Marathon will take place this weekend, and the Bucharest Gendarmerie has announced that, together with other relevant institutions, it will take measures to ensure public safety in the capital during the event.

The start of the sporting event will be given in the area of Constitution Square (Piața Constituției), and the organizers have estimated a large number of participants.

Public order and safety measures will be implemented to prevent overcrowding and other incidents. The gendarmes will ensure public order in the areas where the event takes place, along the runners’ routes, as well as on the arrival and departure routes of spectators, as follows:

Traffic restrictions announced by the Bucharest Traffic Brigade:

• October 11, 2025: between 07:30–14:00, along the competition route.
• October 12, 2025: between 07:30–16:00, along the competition route.

The Traffic Brigade advises drivers to:
Use personal vehicles only in urgent situations to avoid traffic jams; opt for public transport, especially the metro; remain calm and avoid unnecessary honking in crowded areas; stay away from the marathon route; and follow the instructions of traffic police officers redirecting and managing traffic. Drivers are also advised to avoid any behavior that could endanger their own safety or that of other traffic participants.

Pedestrians are advised to:
Walk only on sidewalks and cross streets only at designated crosswalks, on the green light, and only after ensuring that drivers have understood their intention to cross.

The Bucharest Gendarmerie also recommends:
Patience and compliance with the instructions of law enforcement officers; avoiding any form of conflict; close supervision of children to ensure they do not enter the race area; and immediate reporting of any antisocial acts to nearby security forces.

The Gendarmerie reminds the public that carrying weapons of any kind, explosive or incendiary materials, irritant or paralytic substances, electric shock devices, or any objects that could be used for violent actions is strictly prohibited and constitutes a criminal offense.
