The “Black Cat Day” event at the Grigore Antipa National Museum of Natural History, now in its third edition, will take place on Tuesday, the museum announced together with the TNR Association.

“Far from bringing bad luck, black cats are symbols of elegance, intelligence and devotion – and in some cultures, even of good fortune and prosperity,” the museum said in its statement.

Admission to the permanent exhibition will be free for all children and teenagers up to 18 years old, between 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.

The program for the day includes:

10:00 – 15:00 – Adoption fair organized by the TNR Association: visitors will meet some of the most charming black cats, ready to find a loving home;

10:00 – 15:00 – Coloring corner for children, with cheerful cat drawings;

10:30 – 11:00 – Storytelling workshop about beloved feline characters, hosted by the museum’s specialists;

11:00 – 12:00 – Interactive workshop with TNR volunteers: a story about empathy, feline behavior and acceptance, followed by creative activities and a surprise for the little ones;

13:00 – 13:30 – Mini-conference by Dr. Alexandru Iftime on the fascinating family of felines — wild and domestic cats alike — and the myths surrounding black cats.

“Did you know that in ancient times, Egyptians worshipped cats, and in many cultures, black cats were seen as bringers of luck and protection? At Antipa, we want to bring these positive stories back into the spotlight and give every cat a chance — regardless of the color of its fur,” the museum’s representatives added.
