Calea Victoriei once again becomes a pedestrian promenade and open-air cultural stage on July 12 and 13, inviting Bucharest residents to a new edition of “Open Streets – Bucharest.”
For two days, Calea Victoriei will come alive with performances, exhibitions, and artistic moments, along a route curated by ARCUB – the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bucharest.

On both weekend days, Țăndărică Animation Theatre will present a nonverbal, playful performance titled “Freestyle Puppetry”, a street puppetry show bringing the magic of animation to the heart of the city. On Saturday evening, the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus returns with a spectacular street parade, followed by a short acrobatic show in front of the Telephone Palace, promising memorable moments for audiences of all ages.

On Sunday morning, at the headquarters of the National Museum of Romanian Literature, children are invited to participate in “Toying with Words”, a literary workshop led by Oana Oros that stimulates imagination and wordplay in a relaxed and creative setting.

Throughout the weekend, visitors can explore two permanent exhibitions hosted by the Bucharest Municipal Museum – Filipescu-Cesianu House: “The Museum of Ages – From Childhood to Old Age” and “In the Presence of Saints. The Frescoes of Văcărești Monastery, 40 Years Later” (admission is ticket-based, from 10:00 to 17:30). In the museum’s outdoor space, a free open-air photo retrospective dedicated to the work of artist Dragoș-Radu Dumitrescu will be on view between 10:00 and 18:00.

The full event program is available at www.arcub.ro.

Traffic restrictions:

As part of the “Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade” program this weekend, Calea Victoriei will become pedestrian-only on July 12 and 13, between 10:00 and 22:00, along the stretch from Dacia Boulevard to the intersection with Splaiul Independenței, with intersections remaining open.

Pedestrian crossing will still be allowed at the intersections with: Știrbei Vodă Street, C.A. Rosetti Street, Dem I. Dobrescu Street, Ion Câmpineanu Street, and Regina Elisabeta Boulevard.

Bucharest Transport Company (STB) traffic will be rerouted, without affecting passenger service. Car traffic on Calea Victoriei will resume overnight, from 11:00 PM to 9:00 AM, between Saturday night and Sunday morning. For safety reasons, bicycle lanes on closed sections will also be temporarily closed.

Strada Piața Amzei (between Calea Victoriei and Piața Amzei) and Strada Christian Tell (between Biserica Amzei and Piața Amzei) will also be pedestrianized on July 12 and 13, between 10:00 and 22:00.
