Summer doesn’t mean a slowdown in Bucharest’s job market. On the contrary, June through August are some of the busiest months for recruitment across many sectors. If you’re job hunting or considering a change, here’s where the real opportunities are right now:

1. Retail, HoReCa, and Tourism — mass hiring

These sectors dominate every summer. Retail, construction, HoReCa, and tourism are actively recruiting, with over 10,000 jobs posted in the first half of May 2026 alone. Positions range from cashiers and waiters to receptionists, sales agents, and warehouse staff. Many roles are seasonal or fixed-term, offering fast entry into the market or extra income. Average net salaries: ~4,500 lei in HoReCa/tourism, ~4,000 lei in retail.

2. IT — selective but strong demand

IT remains Bucharest’s top sector, though growth has cooled since the 2020–2023 boom. Companies hire fewer candidates but demand deep expertise. Hot profiles: cybersecurity, cloud, and AI. Specialists in these areas enjoy strong negotiating power, while generalist developers face higher competition.

3. Finance, banking, and insurance — the year’s surprise

The financial sector is one of 2026’s most dynamic, with insurance job openings doubling compared to 2025. Roles range from sales agents and financial advisors to risk analysts and managers, attracting both graduates and experienced professionals.

4. Construction and infrastructure

Record levels of EU funds are driving urban and infrastructure projects, creating high demand for skilled workers, engineers, and site managers. Supply is struggling to keep up with demand.

5. Healthcare — chronic staff shortage

Bucharest’s hospitals, clinics, and family medicine networks constantly seek doctors, nurses, technicians, and administrative staff. Both public and private systems have a high number of vacancies.

6. Logistics and transport

Summer brings increased delivery volumes and warehouse activity. Distribution drivers, warehouse operators, and courier agents are in constant demand, often with fast hiring and minimal education requirements.

7. Customer service and call centers

Telecom, e-commerce, banking, and utilities continue to hire for call centers and customer service roles, including remote and hybrid options. Entry requirements are low, and advancement is possible for those who stay.

Where to look

Top job platforms: eJobs.ro, BestJobs.eu, Hipo.ro, iajob.ro. Filter by Bucharest and sort by “recently added” to see current openings.

The average net salary in Bucharest is approaching 7,000 lei in 2026, but sector differences are significant. Summer is often when companies complete their teams before autumn.
