Residents of Bucharest and Ilfov County currently have a variety of options to lower their electricity bills, as the market offers prices significantly below the maximum capped rates. An AI-powered analysis of the latest data from the official ANRE (National Energy Regulatory Authority) comparison tool reveals price differences that can slash monthly costs by as much as 80 RON.

Who Are the Main Energy Suppliers?

To make an informed choice, it is essential to understand the companies currently leading the market in terms of efficiency:

  • Nova Power & Gas: Part of the Cluj-based E-INFRA group, this private supplier has grown rapidly through massive investments in renewable energy and infrastructure.
  • Hidroelectrica: Romania’s largest energy producer, state-controlled and renowned for its 100% green (hydro) production and highly competitive pricing for residential customers.
  • PPC Energie (formerly Enel): One of the largest national suppliers, part of the Greek giant Public Power Corporation (PPC), which took over Enel's operations in Romania, managing strategic networks including Bucharest.
  • Engie Romania: A subsidiary of the French group Engie, they are leaders in the natural gas market but maintain a solid presence in electricity, offering integrated energy solutions and technical services.

Top Offers Breakdown: From Price to Stability

Based on data extracted from the ANRE simulator for the Muntenia South region, here is how the top offers perform for an average consumer:

Nova Power & Gas – Efficiency and Sustainability

Nova offers the lowest bill value with a unit price of 1.10 RON/kWh. This plan features a fixed price for 6 months and guarantees 100% renewable energy. For average consumption, the monthly bill settles at approximately 220 RON.

Hidroelectrica – The Green Energy Leader

Hidroelectrica holds the second position with a price of 1.11 RON/kWh. Their offer is famous for its simplicity and the fact that it is sourced almost entirely from renewable resources. The savings compared to maximum capped rates are roughly 78 RON per month.

PPC Energie – Diverse Options for Bucharest Residents

PPC (formerly Enel) presents the "PPC Energie Easy Muntenia Sud" offer at a price of 1.25 RON/kWh. While slightly higher than the top two, it remains highly attractive and well below the 1.3 RON/kWh cap, offering a monthly saving of about 50 RON.

Engie Romania – Supply Stability

Engie proposes the "Ampero Verde Online" offer at a unit price of 1.29 RON/kWh. This is tailored for customers seeking green energy backed by the security of a supplier with vast international expertise. In this case, monthly savings amount to approximately 42 RON.

How to Choose the Right Plan for You

The AI analysis indicates that while the price per kWh is the primary factor, consumers in the capital should also pay attention to other contractual aspects. Some providers, such as Gronorg, offer a fixed price for 24 months—a major advantage if the market faces future price fluctuations.

Switching suppliers is a free process that can be completed online without any technical intervention on your meter. Experts recommend always checking if the chosen offer includes a daily subscription fee, as this can impact the final cost for low-consumption households.

Take advantage of the current market conditions and choose a plan that protects your family budget. The competition between companies like Nova, Hidroelectrica, PPC, and Engie is working directly in favor of your wallet.
