Bucharest residents passionate about astronomy, as well as families who want to offer their children an educational and spectacular experience, have a special event dedicated to the Universe this week. On Friday, August 14, 2026, AstroShow returns to the terrace of Promenada Mall, where the public is invited to embark on a fascinating journey through space, from the origins of the Universe and the formation of the Galaxy and the Solar System to the future of humanity and the questions that concern both astronomers and science enthusiasts. Admission to the event is free, and the program begins at 7:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. The Promenada terrace is frequently used for outdoor events, and the mall presents this space as one of its locations dedicated to cultural and entertainment experiences during the summer. AstroShow 2026 promises to combine astronomical observations with experiments, technology, education and direct interaction with the public. AstroShow is designed both for astronomy enthusiasts and for people who do not have extensive knowledge of the field. The explanations, demonstrations and interactive activities are intended to turn science into an experience that is easy to understand and, especially for children, attractive.

Public access begins at 7:00 p.m., and the entire experience continues until 10:00 p.m. For families with children, the three-hour interval provides enough time to visit the themed areas, participate in workshops and experiments, and watch the main presentation.

An impressive meteorite collection and Astro-VR experiences

One of the attractions announced for this edition is an exhibition presenting one of the most spectacular private meteorite collections in Romania. Visitors will thus have the opportunity to see fragments originating from space up close and to better understand the nature of these celestial bodies.

Meteorites are particularly interesting objects for researchers because they can preserve information about the earliest stages of the formation of the Solar System. For children, encountering such fragments can turn an astronomy lesson into a concrete experience, especially when the information is presented through examples and demonstrations.

Another experience prepared at AstroShow is Astro-VR, through which participants will be able to explore the Universe using virtual reality. The technology allows for a visual journey through space and can offer a different perspective on planets, stars and other cosmic objects.
