Water Parks in Bucharest, 2026. Where to Escape the Heat This Summer

The 2026 summer season has only just begun, but Bucharest's aquatic leisure offer is already worth mapping out. From year-round thermal complexes to urban beaches and full-scale water parks, the capital and its metropolitan area have several solid options for the days when the temperature makes staying in the city an uncomfortable choice. A detailed look at each one follows.
Therme București
Europe's largest thermal spa complex sits in Balotești, roughly 30 kilometres north of the city centre, and operates every day of the year. That is its defining advantage: a rainy July afternoon changes nothing about the plan.
The complex is divided into three zones, each with separate access and pricing. Galaxy is the water slides zone — 1.7 kilometres of aquatic runs, a wave pool, and attractions for all ages. The Palm adds large pools, jacuzzis, palm trees, and a retractable roof. Elysium is the premium tier, with themed saunas, spa treatments, and fine dining — reserved for adults only.
2026 prices: Galaxy entry starts at 71 RON for adults and 55 RON for children. Full access to all three zones reaches approximately 180 RON per person. Rates vary by day of the week and chosen time slot. Therme also offers an Evening Special (available Monday–Thursday from 17:30 or 18:30, at reduced rates), not valid during school holidays or public holidays.
Hours: Monday–Friday 10:00–22:00, Saturday–Sunday 09:00–22:00.
Getting there: Therme runs a direct shuttle from several city points (Piața Presei Libere, Piața Victoriei). The nearest metro station is Aurel Vlaicu (M2).
Peak weekends draw thousands of visitors. Weekday mornings offer a noticeably different experience.
Lagoon Park
Now in its third season, Lagoon Park has firmly established itself as one of the most talked-about leisure destinations in northern Bucharest. Built on the site of a former industrial platform at Strada Coralilor 18, the 40,000-square-metre complex centres on an artificial lagoon of nearly 10,000 square metres, surrounded by sandy beach, over 1,000 sun loungers, two restaurants, terraces, and a beach bar. Total investment exceeded 33 million euros.
The concept is straightforward: a functional urban waterfront, a few kilometres from the residential blocks of northern Bucharest. The lagoon water is not heated — an advantage in peak summer, less so in cooler spells. The 2026 season opened on 1 May.
Hours: daily 09:00–21:00.
2026 prices: rates vary by day and time slot. Children under 110 cm enter free in the General Access zone (limited to one child per accompanying adult's sun lounger). Current pricing at lagoonpark.ro.
Lagoon Park works well for groups, couples, and families with older children. As with Therme, July and August weekends are heavily crowded — early mornings or late afternoons on weekdays are significantly more pleasant.
Divertiland
Romania's largest water park by surface area — over 100,000 square metres in Chiajna, at Strada Divertismentului 1 — Divertiland opens its 2026 season on 18 June. In its 14th year of operation, the park offers adrenaline slides, themed pools, a wave pool, areas for young children, and an extensive food offer across 12 restaurants (burgers, pizza, waffles, bubble tea, and more).
Hours: Monday–Friday 10:00–18:00 (slides 11:00–17:30), Saturday–Sunday 10:00–20:00 (slides 11:00–18:00).
2026 prices: approximately 75 RON for adults on weekdays and 99 RON on weekends. Children under 4 enter free; those aged 4–11 pay reduced rates (45 RON weekdays, 60 RON weekends). Management has confirmed that the VAT increase will again be absorbed in 2026, with no price increase passed on to visitors. Tickets available online at divertiland.ro.
Getting there without a car: train from Gara de Nord or Basarab to Parc Divertisment Chiajna station (~20 minutes, ~4 RON), free DivertiBus from the Preciziei metro area, or STB bus 137 to Hornbach/XXXLutz. Free parking for approximately 1,000 vehicles on site.
WaterPark Otopeni — check before you go
Located at Calea Bucureștilor 255A, next to RIN Airport Hotel, WaterPark Otopeni operates seasonally (typically June–August) and includes 9 pools, nearly 30 slides, a lazy river, and relaxation areas. At the time of writing, the park was listed as temporarily closed — confirm current status at waterpark.ro before making plans.
A few practical notes
Online tickets are available for all venues above, often at better rates than at the door, and without queuing.
Weekdays consistently offer a better experience than July–August weekends — fewer people, the same water.
Sun protection matters more than it seems. Hours in and around water mean significant UV exposure even under partial cloud cover. High-SPF sunscreen, reapplied every two hours, is not optional.
Food inside the parks is priced accordingly. A few snacks and water brought from outside can make a meaningful difference to the day's total — check each venue's policy on outside food beforehand.
