Bucharest has numerous venues where music can be enjoyed in spectacular settings, but Candlelight concerts offer an experience different from that of a traditional concert. Live music is enhanced by thousands of candles, while the audience is seated in spaces carefully arranged to create an intimate, almost cinematic atmosphere. The programs include both great composers of classical music and artists and bands from pop, rock or the world of film soundtracks. In Bucharest, the series continues throughout the autumn and winter of 2026, with concerts scheduled at the Palace of Parliament, Sala Dalles and the Jewish State Theatre. The selection is diverse enough that a Candlelight evening can mean either an encounter with Vivaldi, Mozart and Chopin or an instrumental reinterpretation of songs by Queen, ABBA, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons or Michael Jackson. According to the program currently available, tickets start at approximately 140–145 lei, although the price varies depending on the event and the category selected.

What exactly are Candlelight concerts?

The Candlelight concept combines live music with a scenography based on candlelight. The performances are generally designed to last approximately one hour and take place indoors, with seats allocated according to the ticket category. Instead of conventional lighting, the hall is dominated by the warm glow of candles, while the musicians perform the selected repertoire at the center of this setting.

Another important element is the diversity of the repertoire. Although the name Candlelight may suggest a concert exclusively devoted to classical music, the current program in Bucharest demonstrates otherwise. In addition to Vivaldi, Mozart and Chopin, audiences can hear classical instrumental versions of songs by Queen, ABBA, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Michael Jackson or Hans Zimmer. The concerts are presented as musical tributes and are not associated with or sponsored by the original artists or their official representatives.

For those who are not accustomed to this kind of experience, a Candlelight concert can be an accessible way to discover instrumental music in a less formal setting. The atmosphere is different from that of a traditional concert hall, with the emphasis placed not only on the repertoire, but also on the setting and the visual experience.

Candlelight at the Palace of Parliament

One of the most spectacular venues hosting the Candlelight series in Bucharest is the Palace of Parliament. The building at 2–4 Izvor Street provides a monumental setting for performances held by candlelight, with the contrast between the impressive scale of the building and the intimate atmosphere of the concert being one of the distinctive features of the experience.

Two concerts are scheduled here on October 31, 2026. The first is “Candlelight: Immortal Composers”, scheduled for 6:00 PM, while the same evening, at 8:30 PM, “Candlelight: Queen vs. ABBA” takes place. For the latter, the program includes songs such as “Bohemian Rhapsody”, “I Want to Break Free”, “Don't Stop Me Now”, “Dancing Queen”, “Waterloo” and “Mamma Mia”, reinterpreted by a string quartet. The concert lasts approximately 60 minutes and is intended for people aged at least 8.

The Palace of Parliament also returns to the program in November. On November 21, 2026, “Candlelight Premium: Vivaldi's Four Seasons” is scheduled for 6:00 PM. The repertoire includes the four concertos that make up the “Four Seasons” cycle, as well as “La Follia”. The concert is performed by a string quartet, and tickets currently start at 140 lei.

Also on November 21, at 8:30 PM, the audience can choose “Candlelight Premium: Coldplay & Imagine Dragons”. The program brings together songs such as “Clocks”, “Fix You”, “The Scientist”, “Viva la Vida”, “Radioactive”, “Follow You” and “Believer”, performed by a string quartet. The event also lasts approximately one hour.

Candlelight concerts at the Jewish State Theatre

Another important venue for this series is the Jewish State Theatre, located at 15 Iuliu Barasch Street. The space offers a different setting from the monumental Palace of Parliament, while the theatre's intimate atmosphere is particularly well suited to the concept based on candlelight.

On November 14, 2026, two very different musical experiences are scheduled here. The first is “Candlelight: A Tribute to Hans Zimmer”, with performances at 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. The concert offers a selection of themes from films such as Inception, Interstellar, The Lion King, Gladiator, The Dark Knight and Dune. Tickets currently start at 145 lei, depending on the category selected.

On the same day, at 9:00 PM, “Candlelight: The Best of Ludovico Einaudi” is scheduled. The audience can listen to compositions such as “I Giorni”, “Le Onde”, “Primavera”, “Nuvole Bianche”, “Una Mattina”, “Divenire” and “Fly”. The performance is given by a string quartet and lasts approximately 60 minutes.

The Jewish State Theatre is therefore one of the suitable options for those who prefer a concert more focused on atmosphere and music. In the case of the Hans Zimmer event, the program even allows audiences to choose between two performances on the same evening, while the Einaudi concert ends the day with a repertoire based on piano compositions and minimalist works adapted for a string ensemble.

Sala Dalles brings classical music to central Bucharest

The Candlelight program for late autumn also includes Sala Dalles, a cultural venue located at 18 Nicolae Bălcescu Boulevard. On November 28, 2026, the venue is scheduled to host “Candlelight: From Mozart to Chopin”, beginning at 7:00 PM.

The program is devoted exclusively to fundamental names in classical music. Among the announced works are pieces by Mozart and Chopin, including the famous “Nocturne in E-flat Major, Op. 9 No. 2”, “Waltz in C-sharp Minor, Op. 64 No. 2” and “Scherzo No. 2 in B-flat Minor, Op. 31”. The concert features pianist Marius Boldea.

Sala Dalles will also host “Candlelight: A Tribute to Michael Jackson”, scheduled for November 28 at 9:00 PM. It is an option for those who want to discover very well-known songs in an instrumental performance while retaining the atmosphere specific to a Candlelight concert. At present, prices for events at Sala Dalles start at 165 lei and increase depending on the seat category.

Which Candlelight concerts are scheduled for December?

The program continues in December, when the festive atmosphere naturally suits performances held by candlelight. On December 5, 2026, at the Palace of Parliament, “Candlelight Premium: Vivaldi's Four Seasons” is scheduled again, starting at 6:00 PM. The prices currently displayed start at 140 lei.

Also on December 5, “Candlelight: Queen vs. ABBA” returns to the Palace of Parliament, scheduled for 8:30 PM. The concert is an option for those who prefer pop and rock music reinterpreted by classical instrumentalists, and the performance is scheduled to return in January 2027 as well.

On December 12, Bucharest audiences can choose “Candlelight: Classic Christmas Pieces”, with two performances, at 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM. The concert complements the winter program and focuses on repertoire associated with the holiday season. Tickets are currently listed from 140 lei.

Candlelight continues in 2027

The series does not end with the winter holidays. The program currently published includes several performances during the first months of 2027 as well. On January 16, “Candlelight: Queen vs. ABBA” is scheduled again at the Palace of Parliament, while on January 23, Sala Dalles hosts “Candlelight: Coldplay vs. Ed Sheeran” and “Candlelight: From Mozart to Chopin”.

On March 6, 2027, “Candlelight Premium: Coldplay & Imagine Dragons” is also announced at the Palace of Parliament. The program shows that the series has become a regular presence in Bucharest's cultural calendar, with performances alternating between classical repertoire and reinterpretations of well-known artists from modern music.

How does a Candlelight concert take place?

For those attending for the first time, there are several practical aspects worth knowing. Depending on the event, admission is allowed approximately 45 minutes before the performance begins, while entry after the concert has started is not permitted. Seats are assigned according to the area purchased and, within that area, on a first-come, first-served basis. For this reason, spectators are advised to arrive early.

There is no strict dress code, so spectators can come in ordinary clothing or choose a more elegant outfit, depending on the occasion. For many of the current events, the minimum age is 8, while people under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is available at the locations indicated by the organizer.

An experience for music lovers and for those looking for something different

Candlelight concerts have the advantage of being viewed both as musical performances and as evening experiences. The candlelit setting completely changes the perception of a space, while the very diverse repertoire allows a broad audience to find a concert to suit its tastes. For a classical music lover, Vivaldi, Mozart and Chopin may be the natural choice, while for a film or pop music enthusiast there are Hans Zimmer, Queen, ABBA, Coldplay, Imagine Dragons, Einaudi or Michael Jackson.

In the autumn and winter of 2026, Bucharest therefore offers a substantial selection of such events in venues such as the Palace of Parliament, the Jewish State Theatre and Sala Dalles. Since dates, times and prices may be changed depending on the organizer and ticket availability, it is recommended to check the program before purchasing. At present, however, the announced calendar shows that Candlelight performances will continue to offer Bucharest residents a combination of live music, spectacular venues and the special atmosphere created by the glow of thousands of candles.
