A city where children become doctors or pilots, water slides, suspended obstacle courses and spaces where they can discover science through experiments: Bucharest and its neighbouring towns offer very different experiences for a family outing. Your choice depends on your child’s age, interests and the time you have available.

We have selected ten venues with a variety of activities and facilities, both indoors and outdoors. This is a selection, not a ranking. It includes playgrounds, adventure parks, a science centre and a private party venue, each with its own admission requirements.

1. Destiny Park: a miniature city where children try different jobs

At Destiny Park, play draws on situations children encounter in the adult world. They can take on the role of a doctor, pilot, cashier or television presenter in a park designed for children aged 3–14. Activities use the park’s own currency, Magic Money, which participants earn or spend on certain experiences.

Each activity lasts approximately 10–20 minutes, and children participate independently of their parents. If your child is used to having you beside them at all times, bear this in mind before your first visit. The standard ticket provides 3.5 hours to explore the park.

Address: 8 Calea Ion Zăvoi, Băneasa area, Bucharest.

Published opening hours: Wednesday–Thursday, 10:00–19:00; Friday and Sunday, 10:00–20:00; Saturday, 10:00–21:00; closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Tickets: published online Standard Pass prices are 135 lei per child and 65 lei per adult from Wednesday to Friday, and 185 lei per child and 85 lei per adult at weekends and on public holidays. Check the booking platform for the price applicable to your chosen date.

2. Hype Arena Romexpo: slides, suspended courses and interactive games

Hype Arena Romexpo brings together activities involving movement and different challenges: slides, suspended courses, trampolines and climbing. It is an option for children who enjoy switching between activities during the same outing. The operator suggests around five years old as a general starting age for most attractions, although each has its own restrictions.

Payment works through game credits, called tokens, loaded onto a wristband. This means you are not buying a ticket that automatically provides unlimited access to every attraction. One package listed in the online shop costs 100 lei for 110 tokens; on your first visit, you should also budget for the wristband and the socks required for certain activities.

Address: 65–67 Bulevardul Mărăști, within the Romexpo complex, pavilions C1 and 31–32.

Opening hours: Monday–Friday, 13:00–22:00; weekends and public holidays, 10:00–22:00.

Admission requirements: an adult must complete the participation agreement for each minor, and access to attractions depends on the stated age and height requirements.

3. Gymboland AFI Cotroceni: indoor play in a themed setting

The themed ship is the distinctive feature of Gymboland at AFI Cotroceni. Its setting can inspire imaginative games in a space dedicated to children. It is an option for rainy days or an outing that keeps you within the city.

Gymboland lists this venue for children aged 0–12. That age range does not mean every piece of equipment is suitable from birth; for very young children, check which area is available and the accompanying adult requirements. The official pages consulted display different ticket prices, so confirm both the cost and the time included directly with the venue.

Location: inside AFI Cotroceni, Sector 6; the operator lists the address as 4 Vasile Milea.

Published opening hours: daily, 10:00–22:00.

Contact: 0756 170 004 or 0755 111 064.

4. Therme Bucharest, Galaxy area: a family outing with slides and a wave pool

For children who enjoy water activities, the Galaxy area at Therme Bucharest offers slides, a wave pool and water play facilities for younger visitors. The complex is in Balotești, rather than Bucharest or Otopeni. Galaxy is the area accessible to children aged 3–14; individual slides have their own restrictions.

The published basic rate for three hours is 55 lei for children aged 3–14 and 71 lei for adults, Monday to Thursday. From Friday to Sunday, on public holidays and during school holidays, the prices are 65 lei per child and 81 lei per adult. Your chosen visit duration and any additional services will affect the overall cost.

Address: 1K Calea București, Balotești, Ilfov County.

Galaxy opening hours: Monday–Thursday, 10:00–23:00; Friday–Saturday, 09:00–00:00; Sunday, 09:00–23:00.

Good to know: facilities close 30 minutes before the complex. Allow time for changing and check which rate applies on your visit date.

5. Edenland Park: a woodland playground and activities for older children

At Edenland Park in Balotești, an outing can combine playtime for younger children with activities for older siblings. The playground has climbing areas, slides, swings, seesaws, trampolines and sand play areas. The park also offers treetop courses, climbing, mini golf and other activities, with separate prices and participation requirements.

It is worth calculating the cost before setting off: park admission costs 25 lei per person, with free entry for children under three. Playground access is charged separately at 45 lei per day for children aged 2–9; children under two can use this activity free of charge. Parking is also charged separately.

Address: 12 Strada Cantonului, Balotești, Ilfov County.

Published general opening hours: daily, from 10:00 until sunset. In autumn, this means fewer hours available for play than in summer.

For adventure courses: check the required footwear and participation restrictions before promising your child a particular experience.

6. Ferma Animalelor: outdoor play and encounters with farm animals

Ferma Animalelor, in Pantelimon, combines play areas with opportunities to discover farm animals. Its grounds cover more than 40,000 square metres, allowing families to alternate between walking and playing. It is an option for those seeking an outdoor activity without making adventure equipment the focus of the entire visit.

Interactions with animals must follow staff instructions. According to the operator, individual family visits do not require a reservation. Children under two enter free; confirm the admission price for other visitors before travelling, as the page consulted does not display a complete, verifiable price list.

Address: 20 Strada Sfântul Gheorghe, Pantelimon, Ilfov County.

Opening hours displayed at the time of research: daily, 09:00–17:30.

Telephone: 0735 309 175. As this is an outdoor outing, weather-appropriate clothing and footwear matter more than they would at an indoor play venue.

7. Extreme Park Cernica: treetop courses with different levels of difficulty

Extreme Park Cernica is an option for children interested in treetop courses and outdoor activity. Participation begins with fitting the equipment and a safety briefing. Choose a course with staff guidance, taking account of both the access requirements and your child’s abilities.

Park admission costs 20 lei per person, with free entry for children under three. The published course price for children aged 3–12 is 80 lei for three hours, charged separately from park admission. The 120-metre zip line has its own limits, including a minimum weight of 40 kg, so it is not automatically available to every child visiting the park.

Published address: 12 Strada Ștrandului, Phoenix Cernica complex, Cernica–Pantelimon area, Ilfov County.

Displayed opening hours: Monday–Friday, 10:00–18:00; Saturday–Sunday, 10:00–19:30.

Contact: for an autumn visit, confirm that the courses are operating on your chosen day by calling 0731 131 131.

8. Casa Experimentelor: discoveries and play for curious children

At Casa Experimentelor, children can explore phenomena in fields such as optics, mechanics, magnetism and acoustics. This interactive science centre is included for its learning-through-play experience. Visitors use the exhibits and observe what happens, rather than simply reading written explanations.

Admission is restricted to visitors over three years old. Standard tickets cost 36 lei per child and 42 lei per adult, while a package for one adult and one child costs 75 lei. Workshops carry separate fees. Booking is recommended, as visitors with advance reservations receive priority admission.

Address: 242 Calea Vitan, Sector 3, with access from Splaiul Unirii.

Opening hours: daily, 10:00–18:00, with last admission at 17:00, except for holiday closures announced by the centre.

Parking: available only on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

9. Nobelino, Pipera: open play, themed spaces and children’s cinema

Nobelino is in Voluntari’s Pipera area and combines everyday play sessions with children’s parties. The facilities presented include a slide, ball pit, toy kitchen and interactive tunnels. The venue also has a Baby Cinema, its own kitchen and spaces for parents.

The operator advertises daily play from Tuesday to Sunday, although opening times and the price of a regular visit should be confirmed directly. Party packages are a separate service: the published Premium package includes four hours and ten children, costing 4,000 lei from Monday to Thursday and 4,400 lei from Friday to Sunday. These are not individual admission prices.

Address: 50 Strada Vasile Alecsandri, Pipera, Voluntari, Ilfov County.

Contact: 0725 689 880.

Before visiting: if you are planning an ordinary play session, check availability before setting off, particularly on days when private events may be taking place.

10. PAO Kids: a play area and indoor pool for private parties

PAO Kids is included for families looking for a birthday venue with different activities. Its offer combines a play area with the option of a heated indoor pool. Parents can choose between a party focused on play and entertainment and a Pool Party package that includes the swimming pool.

Visits are arranged by booking a private event, rather than buying a regular admission ticket. The website advertises packages from 999 lei, with the final price calculated according to the number of children. Before booking, request the full offer and the conditions for water activities, including supervision responsibilities.

Address: 9 Strada Greblei, Sector 2, Bucharest.

Published party slots: 10:00–13:00, 14:00–17:00 and 18:00–21:00, Monday to Sunday, subject to availability.
