The Tudor Arghezi Memorial House, also called Mărțișor, due to the name of the street on which it is located, is the place where one of the most important Romanian poets of the 20th century, Tudor Arghezi, lived and created. Built in the traditional Romanian style, the house offers visitors a glimpse into the poet's life and work, preserving his furniture, personal library, and various personal objects that reflect his creative and intellectual universe.
Established as a museum in 1974, the Tudor Arghezi Memorial House houses numerous manuscripts, rare editions of his works and an impressive collection of correspondence revealing his relationships with other cultural figures of the time. Visitors can also explore the house's large and beautifully landscaped garden, where Arghezi often found inspiration for his writings.
In the garden, on the site of the first house and then the former prison, today lie the graves of the Arghezi couple, as well as their daughter Mitzurei.
The Memorial House is not only a museum but also an active cultural center, hosting literary events, book launches and workshops for young writers. The intimate and authentic atmosphere of the place offers a unique opportunity to enter the world of Tudor Arghezi, making this memorial house an essential destination for lovers of literature and history.
