“Gheorghe Lazăr” National College in Bucharest, located at 48 Regina Elisabeta Boulevard in Sector 5, is one of Romania’s most prestigious high schools. Founded in 1860, the institution has a rich academic tradition and is housed in a historic, architecturally significant building near Cișmigiu Park. In 2024, the college recorded outstanding academic performance, with a 99.6% Baccalaureate pass rate and an impressive average score of 9.41, ranking it 4th nationally. Admission to the 9th grade was highly competitive, with an average entrance grade of 9.57 and final cutoffs of 9.85 for Mathematics-Informatics and 9.80 for Natural Sciences—among the highest in the country.

The school offers four academic tracks: Mathematics-Informatics, Natural Sciences, Philology, and Social Sciences. In 2024, there were 78 places available for each of the first two tracks, 26 for Philology, and 52 for Social Sciences. The college is equipped with modern science laboratories, IT rooms, a gym, and a large library. Students enjoy a rich extracurricular program including foreign language clubs, debate societies, and artistic projects. One standout initiative is the “Steps to Success” project, which supports students in their personal and professional development.
