Green Hours

  • LOCATION

Green Hours is one of Bucharest’s most enduring independent cultural venues, with a well-defined identity at the crossroads of jazz, contemporary theatre, and alternative urban spirit. Located at Calea Victoriei 120, in Sector 1, Green began in the 1990s as a jazz café and gradually evolved into a multidisciplinary cultural space, now best known for Teatrul LUNI, its underground theatre platform. Many of Romania’s most daring and influential theatre makers of the post-2000 era have debuted or matured here.

Its repertoire includes contemporary texts, autofiction, political theatre, and performances with a strong aesthetic focus. The atmosphere is intimate, informal, and artist-friendly, with a summer garden that serves as a casual meeting place for audiences, creators, and ideas. The program also features live jazz and alternative concerts, film screenings, and cultural debates.

Performances typically take place on Monday evenings (hence the name Teatrul LUNI), but additional events run throughout the week. Tickets can be purchased online or at the venue. Green Hours doesn’t offer a mainstream experience—it invites you into a space where art is alive, spontaneous, and unfiltered.
