Just 25 kilometers north of Bucharest, Lake Snagov stretches across 16 kilometers, making it the largest natural lake in Romania, with a surface area of 5.75 km². Surrounded by dense forest remnants of the old Codrii Vlăsiei, the lake is home to a remarkable biodiversity, including rare aquatic plants and protected bird species.

At its center lies Snagov Monastery, a 14th-century site believed by some to be the burial place of Vlad Țepeș (Dracula)—though no archaeological evidence confirms this. During the communist era, the area was favored by the political elite, with Nicolae Ceaușescu refurbishing Snagov Palace as a summer retreat.

Today, Lake Snagov draws visitors seeking boating, fishing, or simply a moment of quiet nature, offering a peaceful escape just outside the capital.
