Residents and drivers passing through the Capital should know that fees for public parking lots managed by the Bucharest Municipal Parking Company vary depending on the area and the type of subscription chosen. Prices range from just a few lei per hour to annual subscriptions worth thousands of lei, with payments available both at parking meters and through mobile apps. The new regulations establish clear conditions for individuals, companies, and residents, with the option to reserve or not reserve a parking spot.
Hourly rates for parking areas
The Bucharest Municipal Parking Company S.A. applies parking fees established by Decision of the General Council of the Municipality of Bucharest no. 517/17.09.2019. These are valid for both individuals and legal entities and differ depending on the parking zone and the time interval.
In zone 0, the fee is 10 lei per hour, between 07:00 and 23:00, Monday to Sunday. In zone 1, the fee is 5 lei per hour during the same interval. For zone 2, the cost is 2.5 lei per hour, between 07:00 and 19:00.
For zones 0 and 1, the hourly fee applies for the first two hours, after which an additional surcharge is imposed. This surcharge equals double the hourly fee for each extra hour of parking.
How you can pay for parking fees in Bucharest
Drivers can pay for parking in several ways. Payment can be made directly at the parking meters located in parking lots, by SMS, or via the mobile application “Parking București,” available for free on Google Play and the App Store.
The app not only allows quick parking payments but also offers the option to purchase daily, monthly, semester, or annual subscriptions. In addition, information boards installed in parking areas display the applicable time intervals and types of fees to help drivers comply with regulations.
Subscriptions for residents
Residents who own cars and live on streets where public parking lots are located can benefit from dedicated subscriptions. These are divided into two categories: with reserved spots and without reservation.
For zone 0, a reserved subscription costs 900 lei per month, 4,860 lei per semester, or 8,640 lei per year. In zone 1, the fees are 700 lei per month, 3,780 lei per semester, and 6,720 lei per year, while in zone 2 the costs are 400 lei per month, 2,160 lei per semester, and 3,840 lei per year.
For non-reserved subscriptions, prices drop significantly. In zone 0 they are 200 lei per month or 2,000 lei per year, in zone 1 they are 100 lei per month or 1,000 lei per year, and in zone 2 they are 80 lei per month or 800 lei per year.
Subscriptions for individuals
In addition to resident facilities, individuals can choose subscriptions valid for one day, one week, one month, one semester, or one year.
In zone 0, the subscription costs 75 lei per day, 300 lei per week, 1,050 lei per month, 5,250 lei per semester, and 9,450 lei per year. In zone 1, prices range from 38 lei per day to 4,725 lei per year. In zone 2, costs start at 15 lei per day and reach 1,890 lei per year.
These subscriptions allow the use of parking spots without reservation and can also be purchased through the “Parking București” mobile app.
Subscriptions for companies and institutions
Companies and institutions can purchase similar subscriptions, with or without reserved parking spots. For zone 0, costs start at 100 lei per day and reach 12,600 lei per year. In zone 1, fees vary between 50 lei per day and 6,300 lei per year, while in zone 2 they range from 20 lei per day to 2,520 lei per year.
Legal entities also have the option to sign usage contracts that include 24/7 reserved parking spots. These cost 1,800 lei per month for zones 0 and 1 and 900 lei per month for zone 2.
