Sala Luceafărul sits on Strada Ion Ghica 3, a short walk from University Square and Bucharest's Old Town. The building started out as Cinema Luceafărul, one of the boulevard cinemas that anchored the city's cultural life during the communist era, with a large amphitheater-style hall and screening conditions considered excellent for the time. In 2005 it was renamed Cinema Pro and kept that name for nearly two decades, hosting film premieres and events like the White Night of Romanian Film and the Dakino Festival.

The venue reopened under its current name on September 1, 2022, run by Teatrul Elisabeta, which has taken on the task of reviving several historic Bucharest spaces — alongside Luceafărul, the same team manages the Little Senate building and Grădina Alhambra. The name it carries now is the original one, last used sixty years earlier. The foyer covers 300 square meters, and the hall seats 500, a figure confirmed on the venue's own website.

Today's program mixes theater, concerts, stand-up comedy, and film screenings. Since October 2023, the venue has partnered with the HappyCinema chain, bringing films back to the big screen at 25 lei for adults and 19 lei for children. Alongside that, the stage hosts independent theater productions — plays like "Omul care a văzut moartea" by Victor Eftimiu, staged by Teatrul Independent Luceafărul — plus concerts and experience-style events, such as Studio 54 Experience in June 2026.

What sets the place apart from an ordinary performance hall is the architecture itself: the amphitheater-style cinema screen, kept from the Cinema Pro years, now shares space with a proper theater stage and a foyer bar built for events that run past the show itself. The hall is also available for rent, for conferences, launches, or private events.
