A bed with thousands of nails you can lie on without a scratch, real lightning bolts from a Tesla Coil, a generator that makes your hair stand on end from static electricity — that's what you'll find at Casa Experimentelor, Romanian Science Center, at Calea Vitan no. 242, Sector 3, with the entrance through Splaiul Unirii. The place opened on January 25, 2016, set up by Asociația pentru Formare, a non-profit NGO.

The space covers 500 square meters and holds 100 permanently installed interactive exhibits, split across optics and optical illusions, acoustics, electricity and magnetism, fluids, plasma, waves, mechanics, math, and biology. The idea is simple: every exhibit invites you to touch it, push it, turn it, rather than just look.

It's open Monday through Sunday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with last entry at 5:00 PM; it's closed on Christmas Eve, Easter Eve, December 31, and on the first day of Christmas, the first day of Easter, and January 1. Entry runs on tickets bought at reception or booked online, with priority given to those who reserved in advance — showing up more than 15 minutes past your booked time cancels the reservation automatically.

The standard rate is 42 lei for adults and 36 lei for children over 3, students, or retirees — figures pulled from the official site, which can change, so it's worth double-checking before a visit. Family packages exist too: 75 lei for one adult and one child, 108 lei for one adult and two children, plus separate rates for school groups and for workshops, charged on top of the entry fee. Children under 3 aren't admitted. The venue also runs birthday parties, with a dedicated room and a workshop of your choice included in the package.

On-site parking is only available Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, and getting the gate opened means calling reception. By public transport, the closest metro stop is Mihai Bravu, about a 15-minute walk along the Dâmbovița riverside toward Podul Vitan.
