Școala Gimnazială Nr. 56, located at 109A Pache Protopopescu Boulevard, Sector 2, Bucharest, is a public educational institution with a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. Founded on the initiative of Prince Ferdinand of Romania, the school was originally named "Ferdinand Boys' School" and was situated on Avrig Street. Over the years, it underwent several transformations, becoming a co-educational institution in 1948 and adopting its current name and location in 1960. In 1995, during UNESCO's centennial celebration of José Martí, the school was temporarily named after the Cuban national poet, a name it held until 2012. 

The school emphasizes quality education grounded in European values, collaborating actively with public authorities, parents, and the local community. With a dedicated teaching staff, many holding the highest professional degrees, the institution has consistently achieved exceptional results in academic competitions and extracurricular activities.

In the 2024 National Evaluation, students from Școala Gimnazială Nr. 56 achieved an average score of 8.41, with 210 graduates participating. This performance places the school among the top-performing institutions in Bucharest.
