Economic High School No. 1, formerly known as "Mircea Vulcănescu" Technological High School, was founded in 1992 and is the only economic education institution in the south of Bucharest. It currently has over 800 students, mostly from the 4th and 5th sectors of the capital and their suburbs.
The Economic High School No. 1 aims to remain one of the most prestigious economic education institutions in Bucharest and to rank among the top high schools in Romania. This goal is supported by a modern, dynamic and innovative educational process, as well as strategic partnerships with the economic and social environment, both nationally and internationally.

The aims of the High School include:
- To train and develop professional skills in service;
- Promoting the school's image through the performance of students in school olympiads and competitions.
Economic High School No. 1 offers two educational cycles. The high school cycle includes theoretical and practical courses in economics, such as accounting, marketing, management and services, with the aim of obtaining the baccalaureate diploma. The post-secondary cycle offers additional courses to deepen economic knowledge and develop the skills needed to achieve a baccalaureate.
