Școala Gimnazială "Adrian Păunescu", located in Sector 6 of Bucharest, on Aleea Valea Prahovei no. 1, is a public school with a solid tradition, offering both primary and lower secondary education. In the 2024 academic year, the school runs 27 classes420 students enrolled in the primary cycle and 207 in the secondary, totaling 627 students overall.

The school has borne the name “Adrian Păunescu” since September 2011, following a joint decision by students, parents, and teachers, with the approval of the poet’s family. The name change was a gesture of respect and recognition for Adrian Păunescu’s significant contribution to Romanian culture.

Before that, the school was known as General School no. 205 (grades I–VIII). Established in 1968, the institution was renamed to honor the poet’s memory and preserve his legacy within the educational community.

At the 2024 National Evaluation, the school achieved a 100% pass rate, highlighting a consistently high level of academic performance.

The school building is spread across two floors, housing 21 classrooms and four fully equipped laboratories (for physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science). Facilities also include a library with around 18,000 volumes, a reading room, a dining hall with seating for 50 students, a dental clinic, a medical office, an isolation room, a school counseling center, a central heating system, a gymnasium, and outdoor sports fields.

In the summer of 2020, the school underwent a full renovation as part of a modernization project initiated by Bucharest’s Sector 6 City Hall.

Additionally, the school runs semi-boarding and after-school programs, which provide extended educational support and structured activities beyond regular class hours.
