Centrul Școlar de Educație Incluzivă Nr. 1 (Inclusive Education School Center No. 1), located on Popa Petre Street no. 31, Sector 2, Bucharest, is a public institution dedicated to the education and development of children with various forms of intellectual disabilities. Established in 1963 under the name “School for Special Education No. 7,” it was renamed in 2023 to reflect its inclusive educational mission.

The center provides customized educational programs for students with mild, moderate, severe, or multiple intellectual disabilities. The curriculum is adapted and includes communication skills, sensory education, personal and social autonomy, as well as compensatory therapies.

Support is also offered for students with special educational needs (SEN) integrated into mainstream schools, as well as home-schooling services for non-mobile students.

The school is equipped with 25 adapted classrooms, each featuring appropriate furniture, computers with webcams and microphones, interactive whiteboards, and air conditioning.

  • A Snoezelen multisensory stimulation room
  • 9 speech therapy rooms
  • 2 physical therapy rooms
  • 2 medical offices and isolation spaces
  • 2 food preparation units and a dining hall
  • 2 event spaces for school celebrations and performances

The school holds an Erasmus+ accreditation (2021–2027) for both school and vocational education. It has also earned the title of “European School” for two consecutive cycles: 2017–2022 and 2022–2025, highlighting its alignment with European standards in inclusive education.
