Having reached its 19th edition, Bookfest has consolidated its status as the most important book fair in Romania and one of the most significant publishing events in South-Eastern Europe. The 2026 edition promises a rich and diverse program, including book launches, cultural debates, autograph sessions, meetings with Romanian and foreign authors, as well as numerous activities dedicated to audiences of all ages.

Where Bookfest 2026 Takes Place

The Bookfest 2026 International Book Fair takes place inside Pavilion B2 of the Romexpo Exhibition Complex in Bucharest. The exhibition space is prepared to host an impressive number of participants and exhibitors, offering modern conditions for the cultural events scheduled throughout the five days.

The organization and promotion of the fair are carried out by the Romanian Publishers Association, through its Board of Directors, the body responsible for coordinating all activities and measures necessary for the proper conduct of the event. The main objective of the event remains the promotion of reading and facilitating public access to a diverse publishing offer.

Each year, Bookfest represents a meeting point between readers and the publishing industry, offering the opportunity to discover the latest publishing releases as well as established titles from Romanian and international literature.

More Than 150 Exhibitors and Hundreds of Cultural Events

This year's edition stands out through the scale of the program prepared for participants. No fewer than 158 exhibitors are present at Bookfest 2026, offering a complete picture of the publishing market in Romania and abroad.

During the five days, 455 events are organized, transforming the fair into a true cultural marathon. Visitors will be able to attend book launches, conferences, round-table discussions, thematic debates, publishing presentations, and direct meetings with acclaimed authors.

Numerous autograph sessions and dialogues between writers and readers are also scheduled, offering the public the opportunity to discover the stories behind the books and interact with important personalities from the literary world.

The large presence of publishing houses contributes to the diversity of the available offer, ranging from contemporary and classical literature to history volumes, personal development, science, education, and children's books.

Bulgaria, the Guest of Honor of the 2026 Edition

One of the central highlights of this edition is Bulgaria's participation as the guest of honor. The neighboring country comes to Bucharest with a substantial delegation made up of writers, poets, translators, and representatives of the publishing industry.

Bulgaria's presence offers the Romanian public the opportunity to better discover contemporary Bulgarian literature and culture through dedicated events, book launches, and meetings with important authors.

The special program prepared by the Bulgarian guests aims to strengthen cultural exchanges between the two countries and promote regional literary dialogue. In this context, visitors will be able to attend presentations and debates highlighting current trends in Bulgarian literature and publishing projects developed in recent years.

Why Bookfest Remains the Most Important Book Fair in Romania

Bookfest's success is due to its ability to bring together, in a single space, all the important components of the publishing world. The event represents both a promotional platform for publishing houses and authors, and an opportunity for the public to access the newest publishing releases.

Every year, the fair attracts thousands of visitors interested in reading, education, and culture. Premiere launches, discounts applied to numerous volumes, and the presence of remarkable personalities contribute to the event's constant popularity.

The organizers also estimate a high level of public interest in 2026, considering the scale of the program and the impressive number of participants. With 158 exhibitors and 455 events included in the agenda, Bookfest once again confirms its essential role in promoting reading and developing the book market in Romania.

For book lovers, the period between June 3-7 represents one of the most important cultural gatherings of the year, and Pavilion B2 at Romexpo becomes, for five days, the center of the Romanian and international publishing universe.
