A new “Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade” weekend brings art and entertainment back to Calea Victoriei

"Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade" returns this weekend with an invitation to stroll, discover, and enjoy performances, in the newly expanded pedestrian zone on Calea Victoriei. On Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Calea Victoriei, Piața Amzei Street, and Christian Tell Street become spaces where culture and leisure meet.
Throughout the two days, both locals and tourists can enjoy a wide array of artistic activities coordinated by ARCUB – the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bucharest. The program includes open-air painting demonstrations, animation and acrobatics shows, relaxation areas, themed photo activities, and access to the permanent exhibitions at the Bucharest Municipal Museum – Casa Filipescu-Cesianu.
Key highlights of the weekend include:
- “Freestyle Puppetry” – a puppet animation show for children, presented by Țăndărică Theater, on both days of the weekend, at Calea Victoriei no. 45, between 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM;
- Acrobatics shows performed by artists from the Bucharest Metropolitan Circus on Saturday, between 7:30 PM – 8:30 PM, in Piața Revoluției;
- Yellow Weekend – fun moments, snacks, and quizzes with themed prizes from the Raiffeisen Festivals streetwear collection, organized by the main partner, Raiffeisen Bank Romania, on both days between 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM, at the Odeon Square booth.
Permanent exhibitions hosted by the Bucharest Municipal Museum – Casa Filipescu-Cesianu: “The Age Museum – from childhood to old age” and “In the Presence of Saints. The Văcărești Monastery Frescoes after 40 Years” (access with ticket, from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM). In the museum’s outdoor space, visitors can also enjoy a free open-air photo retrospective dedicated to the work of artist Dragoș-Radu Dumitrescu, on view between 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

Traffic restrictions: Calea Victoriei, Piața Amzei Street, and Christian Tell Street
As part of the “Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade” program this weekend, Calea Victoriei becomes pedestrian-only on Saturday and Sunday, between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM, on the road segment from Bulevardul Dacia to the intersection with Splaiul Independenței, without affecting intersections.
Crossing Calea Victoriei will be permitted via the following streets: Știrbei Vodă, C.A. Rosetti, Dem I. Dobrescu, Ion Câmpineanu, and Regina Elisabeta Boulevard.
Public transportation by STB (Bucharest Public Transport Company) will be rerouted without impacting passengers. Car traffic on Calea Victoriei will resume overnight, from Saturday to Sunday, between 11:00 PM and 9:00 AM. For the safety of participants, bicycle lanes on the closed streets will also be shut during pedestrian hours.
Piața Amzei Street (between Calea Victoriei and Piața Amzei) and Christian Tell Street (between Biserica Amzei and Piața Amzei) will also be pedestrian-only on Saturday and Sunday, between 10:00 AM and 10:00 PM.
The “Open Streets – Bucharest, Urban Promenade” project is organized by the Bucharest City Hall, through ARCUB – the Cultural Center of the Municipality of Bucharest, and PROEDUS – the Center for Educational and Sports Projects.
